There is a magic that happens when you get a group of like minded individuals. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to go on a personal retreat in Colorado. I only knew one person there, the leader of the retreat, and even then, not very well. Talk about going outside my comfort zone, but I knew that this was important for me to go.
Oh. My. Gosh. My mind was completely blown time and time again over the course of not even three days. The love and unconditional support was incredible. Everyone had such unique gifts to add to the group, it was honestly a bit intimidating at first to be in their presence. I mean, come on, most of these people had been in the coaching or healing business for years and years. I’ve only been serious about this for what, maybe a year? And really, really serious, only a few months.
But the takeaway was that even I, with the least amount of experience in the work we were doing, had a lot to give and offer and share with these people, more than I thought possible.
We each have our talents and gifts to share. Don’t discount what you do. You could go on trips to help build houses or serve in a relief effort or help create policy changes that affect the community. Or, even more more simply, you could volunteer time to visit an elder at a nursing home, read a book in a children’s program, or even just offer someone a hug. It all creates a ripple effect that can spread and spread to affect others in ways beyond imagination.
Find what you love to do and do it well. Share. It all helps, no matter how small the gesture.
