Addictions, cravings, obsessions – they are all there to teach you something about yourself, and often more than one thing about yourself. What are your weaknesses, your vices? What things, concepts, ideas leave you feeling vulnerable to whatever lays out in front of you?
Can you think of the time when you were first presented with this temptation? It could be a food, drug, sex, thinking pattern – whatever it is, can you remember when you first came across it? I invite you to go that time and space sometime this week and recall that memory and, even more importantly, acknowledge why you chose what you did when you did. What were the circumstances around your decision? Was there something you wanted to hide from? Were others pressuring you into doing or thinking something that didn’t align with your own beliefs? Were you attempting to prove yourself in some way?
Whatever the reason, now that you have acknowledged it, be honest with yourself and see if now is a good time to release these destructive patterns. You have certainly changed in the time since you first accepted this temptation. You have grown leaps and bounds mentally, physically, emotionally and are no longer the same individual who needed these addictions and cravings way back when. Be gentle and honor yourself for the path you have undertaken to get you to where you are now. The lessons you have obtained have shaped you and will continue to influence your future decisions for the better.
For now, bring in Sunstone’s energy to your reflections and ask it to shine a light into those darker parts of your thoughts. Allow that light to make you aware of the silver lining to the situations and encourage further positive action on your part. I know you can do this! You wouldn’t be here otherwise.
And don’t forget, the Self-Healing Lifestyle series is underway. I’m scheduled to speak on April 28 (woo-hoo!). Click here to sign up for all of the free information and share the word to those who you think would benefit too.
