I am so, so grateful for the simple task of being able to read. For as long as I can remember, I remember always having a book or more nearby to read. Some of my fondest memories growing up were actually going to the local library with the family to pick up some new books, usually animal or dinosaur oriented then. These days, the list of books to read has grown considerably, and I’m continually adding to that list. Between the books on my shelf, the collection on my Kindle, and continuing to visit the library for more, I know I will never really satiate my fondness for losing myself in an imaginary world or learning from the wisdom of those who have come before to help me understand what has happened in the world leading up to today or accessing information that can assist me in various aspects of my life now.
Citrine comes today with a message of joy – where can you find happiness in the written word? Can you connect to a favorite story growing up? Do you spend time each day laughing at the latest puns and memes going through your feed? Do you have an inspirational text you turn to when your spirits need lifting? Spend some time in that happy place today, letting that feeling flood throughout your body and spirit.
Being able to read has definitely helped open worlds to me, and it’s such a sad thing for me to know that not everyone can read. With it being so important in communication and sharing ideas and knowledge, organizations like ProLiteracy are so vital to helping people of all backgrounds gain literacy. The more you know, the more the world just opens up and everything becomes possible. Can you help spread that joy and love for books to others?
