November is a good month to recall and reflect upon all the good stuff that has come your way. There are plenty of thirty-day gratitude challenges out there to assist you and make “living in gratitude” an easier habit. For me, that shift towards consciously remembering to be grateful has honestly been a struggle. However, the evolving results more than make up for that struggle as I see how much of my own stress and anxiety fall to the side when I take that step back and remember to take a look at the bigger picture. I am hoping that by sharing this month’s gratitude journey with you, you will also take some kind of inspired action or step as a result of the guided reflections. I would love to see or hear what you take out of this too. For now though, let’s begin.
Blue Calcite comes today with its soothing, healing properties. It’s no wonder that it’s a good crystal to be used for recuperation and relaxation. Take a few moments here to reflect on all the good work you’ve done in the past. All the little steps, movements forward and back, and detours here and there have all added up to create the wonderful life which you are living today. Wherever you are today, whatever choices have led to this point – it’s all worth celebrating, so take the time to celebrate you, and know that this celebration is good for the mind.
At another level, today’s card shows a sapling – at first glance, it’s not a whole lot to look at, but underneath, an extensive root system is evolving in order to be able to maintain the growth going on up above. The sapling doesn’t try to grow all at once, but takes its time, even more slowly than watching that proverbial pot of water get to its boiling point. The tree needs a season to slow down and halt its growth, building up its energy reserves for when spring and its warm weather returns. Your mental tree, or brain, also needs time to process in between creative bursts.
For me, I am grateful for the downtime I get, be it a day off of work, a short vacation away with friends, or even my nightly meditation practice. Each of these periods offer a chance for me to reflect, reset my energy, and replenish myself mentally, physically, and emotionally. It has only been by really committing to myself and my well-being that I’ve been able to finally feel more balance overall and even be more productive in the times outside of that reset period. Really, I am so grateful that I am in a place of mental well-being, and this leads me to highlight the first charity organization of the month:
Mental Health Association provides a ton of support and service to its community members based out of NY. No, I have no affiliation with this organization, but a search for charities dedicated to simple mental well-being came up surprisingly slim. Regardless, this organization looks like it does a lot of good to help individuals strive for and achieve mental wellness on so many different levels, and what better way to begin a month of gratitude than to showcase an organization that helps others begin healing a lot of the negative stuff going on in our minds?
What about you? How do you make sure your mind stays balanced and gets the rest it needs? Or is this something you wish for yourself? Let me know.
