So I was given an exercise to do last year where I asked people who knew me to tell me what they thought my core values were. I wanted to see how I projected myself to others and see if it matched how I saw myself. The responses were encouraging and heart warming and thankfully, matched a great deal of what I thought were my Truth.
For myself, I’ve come to value my Independence and living practically within my means because my purpose is focused more on Teaching and Serving others. That requires me to Honor my needs and maintain the spiritual, physical, mental, emotional Balance to be capable of supporting those around me. I am a lifelong Student myself, continually striving to enhance my knowledge and skill set again, for the goal of improving conditions all around me. Traveling to do that as well as maintain genuine relationships with those closest to me has come to be a highlight for me.
In addition to those, my friends added core values of Adaptability and Musical.
I loved this exercise because it really did make me go inward and see how I thought of myself, see what was important and True to me, and then to see that it matched with what others thought was really inspiring to know I am living an authentic life. I invite you to do the same and see where things match or not. If what others think of you matches with who you think you are – great! And if they don’t, take that as an invitation to see what needs shifting in your thoughts and actions so you can better embody that which you want to show to the world.
Doing this exercise has helped me then to draft a working Mission Statement for Living Your Heart Song: to Teach and Serve others with Honor and Compassion, allowing for Transformation to occur through Healing of Mind, Body, and Spirit, and promoting lifelong Learning in order to achieve Joyful Balance and Independence.
So that being said – how can I be of service to you today?
