How many times have you set a goal or resolution and have it fall through only a few days or weeks later? The examples that comes to mind are the new year resolutions that we all seem to make yet hardly keep.
Well, I made one such resolution last month: write and publish a book in 31 days. I got some free information regarding how to do it, including deadlines to meet and beat and ideas on how to launch the manuscript to reach the most number of people. And with the free time I had in between waiting to take my license exam so I can work in this state and being (honestly) a little burnt out with all the exercises in my business school, it was time for me to turn to my creative side.
Thankfully, writing has (usually) not been terribly difficult for me. Mostly, it’s been a consistency thing. I get inspired for a day or few and then stop for months and months. Writing about my experiences and inspirations and channeled messages here has helped me try to keep on track. But to become a published author in 30 days?
It happened, and it’s done, and now I’ve let it go to start helping others who need it. It’s amazing going through the process – it was nothing like what I anticipated after the writing got done. But… it’s the first thing I need to keep going. I have more ideas in my head that want to come out in book form (including one that woke me up at 3:00 in the morning today) and I know that, since I’ve already done it once, I can do it again.
So the message here – what is something you love to do that you want to incorporate back into your life? Can you commit to 10, 20, 30 minutes a day to participate in it? It’s all about the small changes, small steps, and your commitment… Give yourself 3 weeks or 4. See how much life can change for you and then watch as that snowballs into something bigger after awhile. I’m hoping it’s the same for my writing =)
