And… I had to look. Yes, we’ve had this exact combination before. So either there’s something we missed the first time around and someone wasn’t paying attention (I don’t doubt this for myself, actually), or there’s something that needs to be stressed and highlighted about this combination at this time. True, it’s both, but let’s delve deeper.
Both stone and image evoke a sense of coming together, almost even melding together of complementary properties, to become even stronger, even more complete in some aspects.
In Brecciated Jasper, we get the melding together of rich, warm, earthy jasper, which acts to nurture support and sustain us, with the protective properties of hematite, which helps to absorb negative energy. Both are associated with the root chakra, and this combination in particular is helpful in allowing one to stay firmly grounded to this earth plane as we work to accomplish whatever it is we are meant to do be doing.
In today’s card, a recollection of medieval times is evoked, when alliances were drawn up to bring neighboring villages, areas, clans, etc. together. Often, sacred contracts were drawn up, marriages were proposed, and prior animosities were put aside for the joint purpose of creating a unified partnership that benefited all involved. Those times continue today as politics take place in personal to local to national levels. It goes way beyond politics, of course – we naturally come together for the greater good and benefit.
Yes, we are all meant to shine brightly in our own way, to be unique and individual, but we are also called to share our gifts, our talents, our treasures with the world. Many will appreciate that and share likewise, with the potential for a union to create something even bigger and better. No one is really that lone man or island in the sea of humanity. We continually come together and fall away as time passes.
Oddly enough, the image I get is a beaker or flask of atoms all whizzing around. In the random movements of each atom, sometimes collisions occur and strong bonds are created – the two become bigger than the individual. And then another atom comes along to either join with the larger molecule or break it apart by creating an even stronger bond with one of the atoms. And of course, this is happening at a much larger scale in the beaker and in real life.
We surround ourselves with family, friends, colleagues – sometimes we work great together, while at others, there may be friction and discord and a coming apart. Are you surrounded by the exact same people you were when you were five years old? Are you the same person you were when you were five years old? That was just to put things into perspective. Really, we all change and grow and learn, and it’s our working with others that helps us to do all that better and (in a ways) easier than if we had to learn everything on our own in some kind of vacuum.
So grow, come together, work with others. Allow others to sustain and nurture you as you do the same for others. Everyone will be richer and come out stronger as a result.
